John U Lloyd State Park

This past Saturday we had our field trip to John U Lloyd State Park. I was a beautiful day and we had a good turnout. I was very happy with the photographs I was able to get and would love to see everyone elses favorites posted here. Here are a couple of mine along with some shots of members busy at gathering reference material and their guests

Member's Work

This beautiful colored pencil portrait was done by member Marion Cohen. I am posting it with her permission.

Wakodahatche wetlands

Corrin and I (Anita) had a wonderful time working Plein aire at the wetlands. The sun was very bright which hindered us a bit. Walkers stopped by to see what we were doing and had only encouraging comments. On the way out I spotted this incredible bird. According to their web site this is a Purple Gallinule.

Great Tool!

Thanks to Linda Whittle for introducing me to the Bic mechanical pencil. I've used mechanical pencils before but these are cheap, convenient, never need to be sharpened and give a nice sharp line that transfers with great ease. I will now not only be using these for all my transfers but will carry one in my purse with my mini sketchbook, much less messy than the alternative.

December Meeting

Our December meeting was a fun one. Maria, Corrin, Sue, Pam, and Sophia are showing off their great prizes. There were delicious goodies, thanks to Sophia and Corrin. How about posting the recipes? We shared a lot of information and tried some different materials.

Corrin tried out some neocolors while some of the other members worked on setting up and photographing a Christmas still life. We had so much fun that we are already planning next year's December meeting!

This is the link to purchase the proportional divider I had at our last meeting. It is a very helpful tool. Accurasee Proportional Divider

watermarking our images

The following link takes you to an article on how to watermark your images in photoshop, something we all should be doing so they can't be used.
This is my finished painting of a Pelican. Subject was done with Colored Pencil and the background is a combination of Colored Pencil and Oil Pastels. It was done on green Canson Mi Teintes paper. The painting is 12" X 16.25"
